Campus Life for Middle/High Schoolers

Lunch Time

Students have an hour for lunch each day. They have options on how to spend this time.

Outside

Students may choose to spend their lunch period outside, weather depending. This is the most popular option chosen by our students. They can play any of the games we keep set up including 9 Square, Gaga Ball, Pickle Ball. Tetherball, Basketball, and more! They can also just grab a chair and chat with friends soaking in the sunshine.

Inside

Students can choose to stay inside. We have classrooms available for students in middle school and others open for high schoolers. They can play one of our many board games, listen to music, read, or just hang out with friends. We have social rooms and a quiet room for those who prefer a peaceful space during their free time.

What's for Lunch?

Most students bring a lunch each day. We have several microwaves for student use. We have an organized food delivery service or food truck 3-5 times a month for students to purchase as well. Uber Eats and Door Dash are always options and many students choose to order their lunches for delivery. We accept them in the office and students can pick them up at lunch time.

Extra Curricular Fun

Student life is important and we want our teens to enjoy our school.

Clubs

Students can choose to participate in a variety of clubs at lunch time each month. Book Club, Charity Club, Walking Club, STEM club and more are offered to students.

Sports

While we do not offer our own teams for sports, we play well with others who do! We are members of GAPPS and are NCAA approved for our student athletes. Our flexible attendance policies are popular with our traveling athletes. There are many local sports programs for youth that students can also participate in.

Field Trips

We offer fun places for our teens to go several times each semester. These have included local museums, plays, behind the scenes at Mercedes Benz Ampitheater, etc. They are always optional for students to attend.

Social Events

Our students love the Halloween dance party almost as much as the Spring Formal. They also have regular themed potlucks at lunchtime such as a Friendsgiving meal, a nacho bar, ice cream sundae bar, etc.

We will bring in guest speakers and opportunities for students to learn about careers and exciting topics.

Safety at Our School

AI Assisted Cameras

Our school property is covered inside and out with AI assisted cameras. These help us keep our campus safer as we are able to watch any areas we wish to watch in real time as well as go back and review any cameras that need to be reviewed. The AI aspect allows the cameras to pick up and notify administration of any sightings of prohibited items on campus.

Our school resource officer is able to view all cameras all day.

Door Access Management

Our exterior doors are locked at all times. All entries must be approved. Our access management system is equipped with a microphone, camera, and a buzz in system. All guests must be buzzed in by the office or our school resource officer.

Background Checks

All adults who are on campus during school hours must either be with an administrator at all times or have a clear background check. We stay with our prospective tour families and any repair people who must be on campus and all adults who work with students must pass a background check.

ALL guests who will be around students must bring a government issued identification. We have a system that will immediately screen all guests for school safety.

School Resource Officer

We have a full time Cherokee County Sherriff on site every day.

Panic Buttons

All staff members are given remote panic buttons to wear on their lanyards. These are emergency alerts that will contact our on site and local authorities in the event of an emergency.

First Aid and Medical

While we do not have a school nurse on campus, all of our staff who are present at preplanning each school year undergo training. We do CPR/AED, first aid, Life Vac, Homeland Security and mandated reporter training.
